Fun facts about Singapore

  • People are more inclined to buy food outside from shops even if they own an entire kitchen in their very own house.
  • Incoming is not always free in mobile phones.
  • Mobile phones are called "handphones". So be prepared to be asked for "HP numbers" when you're here!
  • There are no private buses, and there's no competition between bus services. Easy come easy go.
  • If you wait for a particular bus service in the bus stop, all the other bus services will arrive (sometimes even three times the same service!), before the service u want comes.
  • The friend of your friend can be one of the most popular guys in Singapore, especially in uniformed careers. Chances are even your friend is one.
  • Single houses cost much more than flats/apartments, due to high land tax.
  • If you're friendly, you get better service, or so I guess!
  • Internet is cheap at home, but costly in cafes.
  • Each time you lose your Identification Card, the cost to apply for a new one increases.
  • There are around 30 radio stations in the whole of Singapore. More from neighbouring countries.
  • Brunei currency can be used in Singapore. 1 Bruneian Dollar is exactly equal to 1 Singapore Dollar, and will not change for so and so years.
  • I'm writing this while I'm in Singapore, and yet I'm bored. Yes, you can get bored even when you're in Singapore!

Hello!!

Whats happening? I think blogging has been jinxed for me. Everytime I logged on to blog something happened. The first time the net connection went off, and stayed off for a week; the second and third time I got a call for work and the 4th time the net connection went off again! Lets hope I'm lucky this time..

First, Happy Belated Friendhsip day! And I think it was Venkat's birthday a while back (sorry man just came across the date), so happy belated birthday!

All is well here, though this wonderful city has been showing its dark side for the past few days - heavy rains. No point stepping out actually. I was lucky enough to not have much work for the past two days, otherwise it would have been a nightmare.

My life is taken quite a turn now. There is so much more to do and think about! I find it a bit hard to believe that most of my life is in my own two hands. But I think building one's own life is fun. Its a wonderful experience with very less room for screwups!!

The work is good, I'm getting to work with good people. These past two days have been "chilled-days" so its been cool. But when there is work I dont even have time to look at myself in the mirror. Since its a profession that depends on both creativity and technicality sometimes things do take time, but the most fun is when things have to be finished within a deadline..

And as a bonus or I might call it a perk, I have met some very interesting people!! They were so interesting that I can think back now and have a real good laugh! Really, the things people say just to make show they are somewhere! Everybody seems to be a director or producer nowadays! And everyone seems to want to make a movie, and surprisingly everyone seems to be getting the money too! More than an art its become a business now, which is sad to see. The stuff they play on TV is quite terrible. And the Punjabi stuff - eek!! But the good thing is there are a few people doing good stuff and crap cant go forever can it? Not when one is in control..eventually.. ;)

Cheers and hope your lives go on well!

P.S - And if that nasal ****** singer comes to your mind, yeah I was referring to him too..

When you smile and when you sigh

When you are walking through the darkest of nights,
When the road is deserted and there is no one in sight,
When you need a shoulder to rest upon,
When your tired feet simply refuse to go on,

It is then that you remember someone called a friend,
A magical person, who, to your wounds will tend.

When you celebrate the happiest day of your life,
When you have recovered successfully from a strife,
When you want to expound your love for someone, awhile,
When you have no reason, but you just want to smile.

Don't forget your friend who helped you turn a new leaf,
He is there to also share your smiles, not just your grief.
