Dead Blog, Alive Poly

Okay this blog has been dead for a while, so let me be god and blow life into it!

My polytechnic:
  • HUGE campus! You would be lost in a Jungle of Numbers if you don't know what each part of the door number stands for.
  • Every class room (tutorial room) has an overhead projector each. No blackboard, only white board. (Blackboard is actually the name of a website related to my poly!)
  • There are several lecture theatres (LTs), each with two overhead projectors, one LCD projector and one computer. The LTs have a kind of portable tables attached to the chairs called "Writomatic" (patent pending).
  • In total the poly has four schools: Engineering, Design, Business, and IT/Applied Science.
  • There are several canteens, but the best one is the IT/AS canteen... LUV IT!
  • There is an ATM for two popular banks of Singapore within the poly campus.
  • The library has bloody slow internet! I'm yet to check out the free internet access labs. They say, it is faster than the library, and you can use it the whole day.
  • Engineering Drawing is done in AutoCAD.
  • We can do anything with our mobile phone in class as long as we do our work and we don't let them ring. Some people even bring laptops and play games during the lectures! Almost all of the mobile phones are camera phones.
  • Out of 250 boys, only one boy will have a mush... ain't i unique?
  • By 2nd or 3rd year, every boy will have a girlfriend and every girl a boyfriend... it's a status symbol!
  • Many things are done online over the Internet, so if you have absolutely no internet access, you can actually fail some subjects!!
  • Our own care person (class teacher) told us about the secret locations to smoke within the campus. But only 1 person smoke in our class of about 20!
  • A five-ten minutes ride from my flat to poly costs me 18.5 rupees! 741 rupees per month just to go to poly and come back!!
  • You would expect the finance department to be at the entrance of the poly, welcoming all the cash and cheques that pay the fees. But no, it's in the top-most floor of the main poly building!
  • If you step on the grass, you'll have to pay a fine of 50 dollars (1500 rupees).
  • The way you are expected to drink water in the canteen water coolers: Push the tap, and sip on the jet of ice cold water that is shooting up! (stupidest water cooler system i've ever seen!)
  • No attendance is taken in lectures because of the high number. So we sometimes bunk lectures.

That's all I remember now... Hope you enjoyed reading it... Bubye... ADTC

  • Woh! I'm visiting the green room after quite a while. I'm back from my exile :). Yes ADTC, most of the research is done :P.

Writomatic?:) Sounds like a super cool college man! And im sure your enjoying every bit of it!

You are talking about moustaches in a place like Singapore? Cummon, give them a break! They aren't all from Kerala :p

18 bucks for a ten minute ride? Hmm..Mumbai is costlier!! unless one uses the bus of course which would be half the cost and the train, which would be quarter. I guess bangalore is no less with petroleum prices going beyond the roof..

And the canteen sounds nice, we have a so called "cafetaria" which does not sell food! :D
Reminds me of the "Bethany Cafe" and its doughnuts..

But cool..seems like you are enjoying..make the best of it, thats all that matters!!

A big enough comment for you?
    Cheers,
    varun
