I Still Remember

I Still Remember
Every night I wonder
I ponder all day long
It's time I finally decide
To find out what went wrong

Why didn't I try to talk to her?
Why didn't I take my chance?
Remember the new year party that day
Why didn't I ask her for a dance?

I still remember that day in school
When she walked in for the first time
If being beautiful was something wrong
She had committed the greatest crime

She looked all around with her pretty eyes
Ready for her new life to start
Eye contact was all that it took
She had booked a place in my heart

I remember that day when she walked up to me
And requested me to clear her doubt
All I wanted to tell her then was that
She had knocked me out

When it was my turn to deliver a speech
In an inter-school fest
I still remember the way she held my hands
And wished me all the best

When she turned up that day, feeling all sad
Having had to cut her hair in half
I still remember all the jokes that I cracked
Hoping to make her laugh

I was haunted with only one question then
Did she like me or did she not
The answer to this question came to me
A li'll sooner than I thought

One fine morning, in a free period
She and her friends were immersed in a game
They were trying to find out whom she liked
After a while, they brought up my name

"Me and him. No way!" she replied
"Don't even talk of him anymore"
I had heard what she had to say
She didn't see me standing at the door

Devastated, too shocked for words
I didn't know what to do
I ran away as fast as I could
I ran because I had no clue

I still remember when I stood against the wall
With tears dropping from my eyes
I couldn't recognize my feelings for her now
Was it affection or was it despise?

She didn't care for me did she?
She didn't care how I felt
If only she had looked through my heart
She would've seen it melt

Why did I make assumptions?
Why did I assume there was a spark?
Why was I building castles in the air?
Why was I reading in the dark?

Why did she say no?
Did she think she was too good for me?
But how can I blame her? It wasn't her fault
It just wasn't meant to be

Now when I look back at all this, I realize
My situation is still the same
I'm still living in a lonely world
Where no one knows my name

If today turns out to be bitter,
Tomorrow will be sweet
Maybe there's someone special for me
Maybe, we're just waiting to meet

I'll wait for that pretty smile
I'll wait for those glinting eyes
I'll wait for her to come to me
I'll wait throughout my life

  • Oh it's amazing! I almost cried, visualizng myself in such a situation while reading the poem. Really touching. No words can describe the beauty of it.

Ok this may not be a good review, but this is what I felt.

What I learned about friendships

My family had never encouraged me to make friends. So from an early age I had little or no friends. As a child, I never understood the importance of friendship in one's life. My parents never taught me, probably because they don't know either. There was not anybody else who would teach me. So I carried on with the misunderstanding that friends are unimportant.

But recently I learned that friendship is an important part of one's life. What I ought to have learned as a child, I am atleast given a chance to learn now. I thank God for it. Ever since I first began to learn more about friends and friendship, I began to make good friends. And now after making so many friends (I myself am surprised at the number), while at home I'm just worried to death simply because I can't get in touch with many of them. Earlier when I did not have friends, when at home, I simply idle my time away with my computer and TV. Now I can't do that!

I understand that God has greater plans for me than I percieve. Perhaps I'm never to meet the friends I made in Bethany again. Oh well, life will go on. I must try to keep in pace with it and make more friends in the place I would be studying next, wherever it is.

There are a few important things that I learned about friendship. Forgiveness is the key to the box of friends. When I began to forgive every little mistake that was done against me, I began to gain a better place in others' minds. To take time off the busy schedule for my friends is another thing I learned. It's sad but many became my friends only when there were less than three months for the +2 board exams. Yet I took time out of my study schedule just to spend with my friends. Anyone who didn't value friendship would not have done so. And the most important is LOVE. [I'm not talking of BF-GF love, please don't mistake me]. I had never hated any of my friends even for their slightest shortcomings. I had fought violently with one of my friends a long time back (when friends were not so important to me), but I never hated that person even a little bit, even when that person was not my friend. Moreover I love my enemies as much as I love my friends.

One great relief that I have at home is the Internet, where I can get online and chat with my friends. With my closest friend, I went into three hours of chatting, the last one was full of bye's, tossed every now and then, yet never made a reality!

The Internet is a great place just to make friends. I made a few online friends (people whom I never met in person). Some of them asked me to be my friend, by reading my profiles and contacting me through them. Others, I myself contacted.

Friends are something money can't definitely buy. Nor is it free. You'll have to earn it through HARRRD WORRRK. (Remember the German accent?)

Balderdash I say!

I'm all smiles 'cause there are people commenting! yay!
Whats this about 12th marks not counting for admission! It absolutely makes no sense! What's the point of sitting through two years studying for an ISC/CBSE/PU course? I'm telling you, this is heading no where!
For those of you who have no access to that article in The Hindu (which Chirag commented about - page 5), I have dug up the link on the net. CET Nonsense!
Whats your say to all this?

  • I think i'm taking this publicity thing too serously! I added the Green Room into the listings of www.blogwise.com!! To get into that listing you have to submit your blog with proper details about it, then wait for a confirmation from them. They say they would visit the submitted blog and assess it whether it should be included in their listings or not. I thought Green Room would get kicked out but surprisingly, they accepted!

Too much work for the publicity guy!!

Poets of the fall - (listened to them?)

Hello,
Did you read Avinash's poem? It took me by surprise actually! Nice job - I liked it! People seem to be turning to poetry...nice!
Ok someone commented that there needs to be more "writing" and this blog needs to be interesting. So what say you? What can be done?
So, if you have anything to share (by anything I mean - absolutely anything) mail me or Ranjana or become a member and blog it yourself.
Have fun!
varun
P.S - If had forgotten to mail you, please forgive me!
